New book coming soon
I’ve not posted in a while as I’m in the process of moving house, leaving Scotland to be closer to family, friends and sources of work.
The stress has been quite disruptive to my writing, but I’m battling through it, and am putting together a collection of networked science-fiction short stories I’m provisionally calling Feet of the Strong God.
The title comes from an epic poem ‘Theogony’, written by the Greek poet Hesiod in the 8th Century BC.
‘Theogony’ (Theogonia, in Greek) refers to the birth of the gods, and in this case, Typhon (also the title of my science-fiction novel), the hundred-headed serpent god-giant who battled Zeus for control of the Cosmos.
Feet of the Strong God will, I’m hoping, show off my science-fiction ‘chops’, as well as acting as a companion volume to Typhon (when it eventually comes out!)
So far I’m in the editing process, with 12 tales taking shape. Having spent the last 18 months working at my steampunk stuff, it’s nice to be back writing SF again.
Some of you - those who kindly acted as beta readers for the early draft of Typhon last year - will recognise some of the shorts from there, including the one about the cruise ship (which proved very popular) and the hunter’s tale (which had a few of you squirming!).
I’m hoping to be in my new place by the New Year and am aiming to get Feet of the Strong Gods out by March 2022. It will be available on ebook, paperback and hardback via Amazon, and I’m going to be issuing an exclusive Limited Edition hardback too. More on all of that soon.
Thanks for your time and all the kind words I’ve had about my work. It really is very much appreciated.
